Since then Sallie has pursued and produced results for employers and clients, deploying publicity, media relations, special events, advertising, promotions, direct response and the Internet to capture the attention of target audiences, create interest, stir desire and motivate them to take action.
That drive, along with a fascination with human behavior, served her well as Ridesharing Manager for San Luis Obispo County (where she created the statewide Ridesharing Week) and as President of public relations and ad agency SJ Francis & Associates. There she worked with California and Caribbean clients in Travel & Tourism, Financial Services, Healthcare and Real Estate & Development.
A life transition took her to the San Francisco Bay Area and Age Wave, LLC, a business development company she had admired and followed for several years. Age Wave created a public relations position in which she managed marketing communications, media relations and brand development.
Then she met the best man in the world and moved to Wilton, Connecticut to marry him. The Public Relations Society of America hired her as Director of Brand Development and liaison to the PRSA Foundation. After a year of two-hour commutes into Manhattan, Sallie left PRSA to work closer to home. Pilot Pen Corporation of America, headquartered in Trumbull, hired her as Director of Public Relations.
She has taught Advanced Public Relations at California Polytechnic State University, and has been a frequent presenter and seminar leader at conferences. Sallie holds a B.S. in Journalism from Cal Poly, with concentrated studies in Advertising & Public Relations.
Sallie is also a scuba diver, therapy dog volunteer and photographer.
